What Hidden Routines Run Your Life?

Posted by: 1geniuswoman on: February 19, 2010

Routines are wonderful in that they create a healthful structure for our lives.  When we are able to automatically, through the creation of healthy habits, accomplish the daily tasks of living, our life is easy and joyous.  However, we also have routines that do not support creating health filled automatic structures for our lives.  We also create routines based in fear. For example, out of fear-based routine creating are routines of worry, chaos, terror and overwhelm.  And…to make this even MORE special, we define who we are by these fear-based routines, just as we define who we are through our love-based routines.  For instance, have you routines fueled by rage which express themselves in physical body inflammation?  How about the grief routines expressing themselves as an inability to move forward?  We all have routines such as these, that for the most part are deeply hidden, creating undercurrents upon which we base our lives.  They cause us to live with eating disorders, using addictive substances, being angry at ourselves, and holding us back from becoming all we can become.  They are the underpinnings of our anxieties.

On the other hand (quite literally as you will soon see) we also have and live love-based routines.  For instance, we participate in routines of joyous  holiday celebrations, of keeping our personal spaces tidy on a regular basis, of making sure we engage in a routine exercise program, and so on. Our love-based routines contribute to creating a healthy structure for our lives.  These are all great routines that keep us from worry, chaos and overwhelm and free us up to enjoy life.

Now onto  “on the other hand.”  Here is an exercise to bring order out of chaos regarding our routines.  You can do this exercise sitting or standing, eyes open or closed – whatever is comfortable for you.  Hold your hands out in front of you, palms up with right hand slightly out to 2:00 and left hand at 11:00,  elbows at your sides.  In one hand (you decide which one)  “place” your love-based routines, and in the other hand, “place” your fear-based routines.  Now move your arms slightly away from your body so the elbows are not touching the body.  Allow the hands to come together by themselves.  Do not force them.  Allow them to dance around until they eventually touch one another.  When they touch one another, allow them to clasp together, palms touching together and thumbs crossed in an “X.” Hold them at the center of your body.  When ready, look at the “X” of your crossed thumbs for a few seconds and give thanks for bringing seemingly opposites together to be unified as one.  In Brain Gym® call this the Integration Metaphor.  It can be used for anything in your life you want to experience more congruently.

Is There Ever A Time To Embrace Scarcity, Reject Abundance?

Posted by: 1geniuswoman on: January 26, 2010

What do you believe to be scarce in your life?

  • Fortune
  • Health?
  • Joy?
  • Love?
  • Money?
  • Peace?
  • Psychological well-being?
  • Safety?
  • Sales/business
  • Self-worth
  • Time?
  • ????

What if every time you had a thought of this scarcity you immediately turned it around and told yourself whatever was scarce was abundant in your life?  What if you then believed you were filled to overflowing with its abundance. What if you were living the abundance of it right now!

For instance, if you believe peace is scarce in your life, take a few moments to state “Peace is abundant in my life now.”  (Or words to that effect).  What do you notice when you make that statement?  Is it intriguing?  Frightening?  Wondrous?  Now visualize yourself overflowing with peace – your are so profusely abundant with peace you share it generously with others.  You are a source of ever abundant peace.  As you reframe the former scarcity belief into one of abundance, what do you notice?

As I entertained this concept it led me to wonder – if I have an abundance of ill health, shall I ask that it be scarce?  The same for debt, prefer it be scarce?  If I believe myself to be overweight, I have an abundance of excess weight – do I want that to be scarce?  As I pondered this, the bottom line became – I was fearful of the word scarce/scarcity.  Scarcity was something to be feared.  Abundance something to be desired.  Scarcity was something to reject, abundance something to embrace.

I’ll be playing with this concept and invite you to do so also. Let’s share what we notice when we decided to believe whatever we thought was scarce is now abundant and what was abundant we may want to be scarce.  How will our lives change?  How will we feel about ourselves?  I welcome your comments.

Tending our Lives from our Circle of Truth

Posted by: 1geniuswoman on: November 15, 2009

In bringing myself to tend my life through my Circle of Truth I notice how much easier it is to attend to the every day – what could be classified as the mundane.  Today, 11/15/09 I needed to clean house.  Notice that word “needed”.  Can you feel the heaviness of it? Can you hear the “have to” message lurking around it?  Can you feel the burden of it all?  Yet, compelled to do it, I was.  (The dust bunnies were starting a take-over)!

I decided the wooden slat blinds in four rooms of the house really required a damp cloth cleaning over each of the slats – they were beyond the feather duster approach!  As I lovingly, carefully and without rushing attended to each slat, I could feel a peace within.  No mind chatter about how much I had to “do” today, no fear I wouldn’t accomplish everything today on the endless “to-do” list.  Just calmness and peace.  Hmmmmm.

Might I be onto something here?  I deliberately switched my focus and went into the hurry-up-there-is-too-much-to-do-today-to-be-messing-with-wooden-blind-slats -just-get-on-with-it approach.  I noticed the anxiety forming, the mind chatter at full throttle, body tensing and resentment building.  I stepped back into my Circle of Truth and it all disappeared.  I noticed how I would work an area of a room then sit down and read, have a snack, or check email for 15 minutes or so.  As I did this from my Circle of Truth, I didn’t feel pressed to hurry up and get back to “work”.  I could feel how willingly I would return to the next set of blinds after one of the breaks.  I felt balanced and loved.  I felt peaceful about taking good care of myself and my home instead of determined to get this all done no matter what I felt.

What happened? What created the difference?

Mindfullness.

Being in the now moment.

Being present.

Joy!

And… a cleaner more pleasant home at deeper levels.

I invite you to play with this process.  Find one of those life areas that you r-e-a-l-l-y do your best to put off.  Spend 15 minutes (longer if you feel like it) tending to it from your Circle of Truth.  Then please share your awarenesses with the blog subscribers so we can all celebrate our taking this simple, simple, step and live lives filled with peace.  Tell us in what areas of your life did you consciously chose to do this? What did you notice?  How did you feel?

For 11/11/09 today’s inspirational focus from Doorways To Daily Soul Nurturance is:

“What would happen if you relinquished habits of not living Truth?”

As you go through your day today making choices, before you make a choice, pause, see yourself standing in your Circle of Truth. Feel yourself in the center of your Circle of Truth. Make your choices/decisions from within your Circle of Truth and you will discover more flow in your life from this vantage point.

I would love to hear about what you notice as you live, move and have your being from taking your place in your Circle of Truth. Blessings…Cristina

Welcome to the Daily Soul Nurturance blog. This blog will serve as an extension of my book, Doorways to Daily Soul Nurturance: A Book for Daily Inspirational Focus. It will also move beyond the scope of the book into ways/thoughts/concepts on how we can live the most expanded version of ourselves.
There will be various themes, yet to be discovered. One I know for sure will be Morning Righting. It comes out of a meditative writing process of renewal I am lead to do some mornings. I’ve years of morning writings (Rightings) that I will be sharing when I am so guided.
In Doorways To Daily Soul Nurturance, the positive living message for today November 5th is:
“Rejoice in the miracle of being able to create in this now moment.”
I am in gratitude for the technology available to us so we can share and grow together in this now moment. Blessings…Cristina
